Some useful and practical sites
Before you send that email try to find out if it is true.
Snopes i.e. Urban Legends

Fat Wallet
Looking for after Christmas deals and coupon offers? Interesting web site.e
Power Line
Like you, probably, I am always receiving politically motivated emails. In my case I have friends on the right as well as friends on the left. Neither side seems to hear the other and I certainly do not know what is true and what isn't. I am frustrated and disappointed with those in leadership positions in our country. Integrity means nothing. It is just a word like love, used often, but having little meaning. A friend sent me a link to Power Line. I am sure they too have their agendas, but I do enjoy reading most of their material.
My Wedding Derek and Rachael
Jean's daughter is getting married and they too are using this site. Cool!
Wedding Tips
Know someone getting married soon? Here's a video that could save them money, encourage participation and be a lot of fun.
Consumer Reports
Its hard to find a quality product, value for price, if you are not familiar with the companies that sell the item you are looking for. Every company claims their product is the best. This site is a good place to start your search.
Camcorder Help
I have suggested to friends and family and posted on the web that sometimes you can get professional results video taping your own wedding. Obviously you can save money doing this as well as having a lot of fun and getting your friends involved in your wedding too. The link attached to Camcorder Help has some great information for amateurs taping your wedding.
Badware
What about all the bad web sites. Lily entered the Publishers Clearing House contest and her computer has not been the same.
Zip Code Finder
This site is especially useful when I am using Monster for my job searches.
DigStation
Amazon, Itunes, Walmart are not the only places to download music, especially if you are looking for new artists.
Free Bible study software for Windows. (Yes, I said free. You don't have to buy a Lexus or become a slave of a cell phone contract. It is feature rich and user friendly.
I assume this is everyone's favorite site, for so many things. We don't use Mapquest because it has steered us wrong. Pun intended.
George Fox Evangelical Seminary
If you can possibly go here you should. I went to Riverside Community College, University of California at Riverside and California State University at Fullerton, all wonderful schools, but the professors at this seminary show less bias then anywhere I've been. Imagine class discussions when Friends (Quakers) to Pentecostals and everything in between are represented! It is more than an education. Contact Sheila Bartlett who coined the phrase, "Hands across the street, around the world."
Neturf
Trey Doty told me about ISP and I'm glad he did. I am very happy with the service. If you are thinking of starting a website or changing your provider Neturf is worth considering.
Screencast
This is such a tremendous tool I don't know why everyone isn't using it. 2 gigs free bandwidth!!
Sendspace
I prefer Screencast, but here's another.
Slick Deals
If you like to check daily for bargains
Alta Vista
If Google does not have it I go here.
Vimeo
Another free site. So far I think they do the best job compressing videos. I sure miss Stage 6 - DivX. Now that was a great site! Sure I use YouTube and Tangle, but Vimeo has better quality and some you can download.
Sound Effects
Useful is the category, remember, and I am a video editor. I often look for sound effects here.
FaceBook
So many of my friends love this site.
Zillow
We keep hoping one day to have a home of our own again, so this site is fun. Kind of neat to see what my sister and brother's houses looks like in Texas. Man we're paying too much in Oregon!
Wikipedia
This site is a great place to start and a lot of fun.
Tigard Library
Lily says this is my favorite place.
The Oregonian
Come on, what do you expect, we live here. Their web site is so much more than the paper.
GP Software (PC)
If you've got $70 to spend and the time to set this up you'll love it. It blows Explorer and My Computer away. This is for XP as well as Vista. 60 day trial period, but be careful, you'll get hooked.
Fax Zero
Ok, I only used it once, but so much cheaper than paying for faxes at McCan's.
If you have old reels
The one media I do not work with is 8 and 16 mm reels. A couple of years ago we sent all of our reels to Creative Video Scrapbooking. They did a good job providing us with desktop playable DVDs as well as data DVDs with avi files I used to edit my projects.
Flickr
Share your photos and watch the world. I can spend hours here.
Kodak
I like their Gallery Slideshows
Picasa
Another picture sharing web site.
Animated e-cards
Smilebox has tons, Hallmark has some nice ones, but this site has to be my favorite. Jacquie Lawson's are just unique.
Government Auctions
How about a firetruck? A fun place to snoop around in, once in a while.
Giclee
I bet most of you are not familiar with Giclee printing. A friend in California invited me to join him in his Giclee business venture. Looking back I so wish I had taken him up on it. I was a Kmart general manager at the time and fairly happy. Boy did I miss an opportunity. Check out this site. The Giclee prints I saw in California were absolutely beautiful. Everyone should try getting at least one of your prints done in Giclee. Giclee printing is just plain beautiful.
